Have a tricky Fuel gauge issue for my Jeep.Any help would be great!?
Please HELP!This Jeep/Swap newbie.I always wanted a Jeep, now I have one,it feels like two with an 87 Wrangler Larado body & the 2003 4.0 straight 6.I found a good deal with a small used car dealership who was willing to give me $1000 for my really beat-up Ford Ranger.A few bucks more and I had my Jeep.Im no mechanic.Im better with boats,im a fisherman by trade. My charter vessel has twin 6-71 Detroit diesel.Since Im Capt/owner and in debt,it also means Im the mechanic. The good news is I have tools now,can read, and follow directions.Im getting better.Boat wiring is cake in comparison too trucks.Which brings me to my first big issue im troubled with my "JEEP CLONGROMATRON"DID I mention I bought the Jeep with the swap already done, well almost. The Fuel Gauge issue. The Jeep was a trade-in when I bought it,and the guy(would like to get his number)didnt finish the gauges.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Ill give you as much info as I can.I have figured out that the fuel tank is not from 1987.I ran the model number, its defitnly a 19 Gallon tank. The only wires(modle # is52018768AD)I see departing from the tank is a four wire clipLooks like out from the tank is two orange/a yellow & blue-connecting via a clip two a two white/two black. Is the fuel pump in the tank?Thought I read that, anyway. The only gauges are what looks to-be an original cluster-VDO.fROM the above project article I think I need an aftermarket gauge 240-ohms--33 ohms?I have no issue buying a $30 gauge,I just want to make sure I get the right one and can hook it up.I have a small Gps giving me speed & O.D. so Fuel Gauge First. Its really tough to use the gps OD to figure out how much gas is really left in tank,Thanks for reading and any help would be awsome,Capt Larry www.zephyrfishing@hotmail.com
