Why do leopard geckos stare?

Constantly, I find my leopard geckos staring at me [even right now]. I find it kind of endearing... But I'm curious if there is a scientific reason behind this? I've heard other owners talk about their leos doing the same thing... Also, do other reptiles do this? Any information would be awesome. Thanks!
