Anyone can answer this please:) There 's a girl on my block who I want to notice me, how do I start?

I have only seen this girl a couple of times outside and have not talked to her yet. I only know what car on the street is her`s. I live 2 doors away from her apartment building. What is the best way to get her to notice me or to start a conversation. LOL knocking on the apartment door or trying to buzz her room would be sorta awkward, especially not knowing what it is! I really would just like to get to know her and see what happens. (She`s a looker too lol)
